Project details

integrated Circular Economy Action plans for Rural areas (iCEAR)

Circular economy has become increasingly popular in recent years. Actors from the EU, national, regional and municipal levels have developed approaches to promote circular economy. These approaches often lack the linkages to policy instruments of higher and lower levels of governance. This is where the iCEAR project comes in.
The consortium comprises regions (NUTS 2 level), LEADER local action groups, municipal associations and districts, nine partners in total. Together, they want to exchange ideas on how to promote circular economy and develop their own policy program in such a way that the programs of upstream or downstream levels are complementary. Its goal is to maximize the impact of the policy instruments applicable for the participating territories.

Every six months, the project focuses on a key topic relating to the further development of policies. This includes topics such as knowledge and data collection, defining goals and measures, and measuring and communicating successes. In addition to the common focus topic, all partners work individually on the further development of their own policy instrument. To this end, the IfLS is working together with the district of Giessen to further develop its 100% climate protection master plan with regard to circular economy.
