SDG model region for a sustainable Rhineland-Palatinate

With the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the international community of states agreed on global sustainability goals. Building on this, biosphere reserves (BR) have committed themselves in the Lima Action Plan to make their own, concrete contributions to the SDGs. In doing so, they also want to live up to their claim to be model regions for sustainable development.

The cities of Pirmasens, Bad Bergzabern and Neustadt, the municipalities of Lambrecht and Maikammer and the local communities of Sippersfeld, Kallstadt and Klingenmünster are participating in the SDG Model Region for a Sustainable Rhineland-Palatinate. Individual sustainability strategies with concrete action plans based on the SDGs will be developed for the eight model municipalities.

The project is being carried out by the BR administration together with Engagement Global and its Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW). Within the framework of the project, the IfLS, together with the consultancy office KOBRA from Landau, is commissioned to carry out stock analyses of the model municipalities and to conduct future workshops to draw up the action plans. In addition, the IfLS provides organisational support for the project implementation, e.g. in the framework of the steering group or supplementary network meetings.

The project is financed by the SKEW's "Global Sustainable Municipality" programme with funds from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and supported by state funds from the Ministry of Environment, Food, Energy and Forestry, the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture and the Ministry of the Interior and Sport.
