Integrative monitoring systems in major nature reserves

The BfN research and development project "Applicability of the integrative monitoring programme for large protected areas" was carried out by the Institute for Rural Structural Research (IfLS) in cooperation with EUROPARC Germany in the period from September 2011 to April 2013. In this project, the set of indicators developed within the framework of the R&D project "Indicators for integrative monitoring in German large-scale protected areas" (2008-2009) was tested in the Kellerwald and Berchtesgaden National Parks and in the biosphere reserves Mittlere Elbe and Schwäbische Alb with regard to its survey effort. The result is an implementation template for a practicable integrated monitoring programme.
