Preparation of the management and nature park plan for the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park

For the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park, the IfLS develops a Geo-Nature Park Plan in the form of a management plan. This will meet both the requirements of the Association of German Nature Parks (VDN) for a nature park plan and the UNESCO requirements for a management plan of a global geopark.

On the basis of a detailed and field of action-related inventory as well as a SWOT analysis, which takes regional and supra-regional planning such as LEADER concepts and regional planning into account, a regionally coordinated mission statement, medium- and long-term goals and lead projects will be developed for the 11 fields of action of the Geo-Nature Park. Furthermore, an implementation concept will be developed. This should take up the existing development strands and needs for action for the further development of the Geo-Nature Park.

In addition to the special features resulting from the situation in the Rhine-Main-Neckar region, it is also the institutions and organisations operating in the region that make a coordination process necessary. It is important to reconcile overlapping interests, but also the opportunities arising from the geo-nature park as an element in the region, both in terms of content and space, and to take them up for the positive benefit of the region.
