The Palatinate Forest-Northern Vosges Biosphere Reserve is characterized by a high density of distinctive species and habitats.
A biodiversity strategy is being developed to protect biodiversity. This strategy is intended to serve as a practical tool for the biosphere reserve. It systematically reviews existing approaches and projects of the biosphere reserve as well as those of relevant partners and stakeholders. Through workshops and geographic surveys, including GIS-supported analyses, concrete future priorities are being defined. These are intended to be implemented in the coming years and to strengthen the biosphere reserve’s capacity for action.
The strategy is being developed through close collaboration with local and regional stakeholders, including nature conservationists and French partners. A Franco-German expert discussion also serves this purpose, promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience across borders.
To develop the concept, the IfLS is collaborating with the firm IUS Weibel & Ness GmbH. The firm enriches the project with its expertise in environmental and nature conservation planning.
