Assessment for the evaluation of the performance of the landscape management associations in Saxony

In Saxony, 13 landscape maintenance associations (LPV) have been the point of contact and mediator for rural development and nature conservation projects for many years. By a cooperative approach, goals for nature conservation can be integrated in the rural regional development.

The 13 LPV are connected through the governing body of the umbrella organization Saxon landscape maintenance associations (DVL-Sachsen). It strengthens the cooperation and communication between the landscape maintenance associations and oversees major projects within the Free State of Saxony. Relevant fields are species protection, habitat connectivity and the implementation of the system of protected areas under Natura 2000.

The Free State of Saxony is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the task fulfillment of the umbrella organization DVL Sachsen. The assessment, which is currently being developed by the IfLS, will be the basis for the evaluation, which is due in 2018. The assessment of the work and performance of LPV will consider general demands placed them apart from institutional and performance related aspects.
