How can rural stakeholders be effectively involved in the development of the National and Regional Partnership Plans (NRPPs)? This question was the focus of a workshop organised by the EU-GAP Network on 8 October 2026 in Wicklow, Ireland. Representatives from managing authorities, national networks and other stakeholders exchanged views on approaches and experiences regarding the participation of rural stakeholders.
During a panel discussion, the IfLS presented findings from the Tools4CAP project. The focus was on experiences in designing effective participation processes, as well as methods for involving different interest groups at an early stage in policy development.
It became clear that, at EU level, many aspects of future policy-making remain unresolved. In particular, there is currently a lack of reliable information regarding the timing of the publication of the relevant regulations. At the same time, many Member States are already beginning to prepare participatory processes for the NRPPs. It was therefore recommended to draw on examples of best practice and, where necessary, to seek external support for process design, facilitation, coordination and communication.
