RUSTIK: First pilot region meeting in Osona and Barcelona

On February, 20-21 2023 partners from all 14 Pilot pilot regions of the RUSTIK project met for the first time for an knowledge exchange, training, and networking event in Barcelona and Osona in Catalonia.

During the meeting, pilot region partners had the opportunity to extend their understanding of the RUSTIK project and interact with the project coordinators. Partners discussed what the Living Labs could look like in the different pilot region, how they contribute to the project and partners gained knowledge on how to implement RUSTIK’s approaches. It was also the first opportunity for exchanging ideas and insights with partners from 14 distinct rural regions across ten states.

The aim of RUSTIK is to enable rural communities’ actors and policy makers to design better strategies, initiatives and policies fostering sustainability transitions of rural areas, through advancing our understanding of different rural functionalities, characteristics and future scenarios of rural areas, their potentials and challenges. To that end, RUSTIK develops a methodological framework for functional rural areas, databases integrating data of different types and sources, improved strategies and governance approaches for rural decision makers and stakeholders, and improved approaches for rural impact assessment and decentralised rural proofing. The core of RUSTIK are 14 Living Labs in ten European states.
