Kick-off event for the project "Systemic Circular Economy as a Driver of Rural Development"

Time to get things moving!

This was the title of the virtual kick-off event for the project "Systemic Circular Economy as a Driver of Rural Development" on 8 June 2022. The event brought together 120 interested participants from the fields of business and research as well as regional initiatives, state ministries and municipal administration. The content was framed by an introduction to the topic of circular economy, which emphasised the importance of reusing resources and regional but also international cooperation. In addition to content-related input, the participants were invited to exchange views on existing initiatives and issues in four working groups on the topics of bioeconomics, construction and second-hand goods. The central findings were that long-term and circular thinking is necessary in order to meet the challenges of the future. This thinking must be present in all processes from production to the consumer. In the further course, case studies of European circular economy projects will be examined.

The project is being implemented by Prognos AG (coordination) and the IfLS within the framework of the programme "Region gestalten" (Shaping the Region), financed by funds from the Federal Programme for Rural Development (BULE).
