IfLS Beratung und Projekte GmbH had the privilege of supporting and facilitating the Hessian Sustainability Alliance’s meeting entitled ‘Young People Shape Sustainable Communities’ in Eltville. Despite the summer heat, all participants made the most of this varied programme to engage in an in-depth discussion on youth participation and local sustainability.
The symposium brought together young people, representatives from local authorities, youth organisations, academia, civil society and the state government to discuss practical examples, the latest findings and new approaches to increasing young people’s participation. The aim of the event was to provide impetus for sustainable and youth-friendly local development in Hesse, as well as to gather concrete suggestions for practical implementation.
The focus was on dialogue on an equal footing, practical ideas from the field and the question of how young people can be even better integrated into local sustainability processes. With short presentations, discussion sessions and an ideas workshop, the programme offered numerous opportunities to bring different perspectives together and develop new solutions.
IfLS Beratung und Projekte GmbH is delighted to have supported and facilitated the event. The day demonstrated once again how valuable committed dialogue is for the further development of local sustainability.
We were entrusted with the role of facilitator due to our work on developing sustainability strategies for various Hessian local authorities as part of the ‘Global Sustainable Municipality Hesse’ project. A project run by the ‘Servicestelle Kommunen in einer Welt’ (Local Authorities in One World Service Centre) on behalf of Engagement Global, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
