Institute for Rural Development Research e. V. – IfLS
The Institute for Rural Development Research (Institut für ländliche Strukturforschung e.V., IfLS), founded in 1956, is a German research and consulting institute at Goethe University, Frankfurt/Main. Its range of activities includes multidisciplinary/transdisciplinary research and consultancy projects on the sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas in Germany and Europe. A particular focus is on the effects of agricultural policy and structural, regional and environmental policy on rural areas. Also of particular importance for this project application and our tasks are our skills capacity building, knowledge transfer, management and coordination of innovation networks. Our clients include the European Commission, state and federal ministries, as well as subordinate authorities and municipalities. The team is skilled in the use of instruments and methods of quantitative/qualitative analysis, moderation, innovation management, organisational development and communication.
Justus-Liebig-University Gießen – JLU
JLU is involved in the project with two chairs: the Chair of Business Administration in the Food Economy and Agribusiness (Prof. Dr. Christian Herzig) and the Chair of Communication and Engagement in Agricultural, Nutritional and Environmental Sciences (Prof Dr. Jasmin Godemann). Both professorships are members of the Center for Sustainable Food Systems (Zentrum für Nachhaltige Ernährungssysteme, ZNE), which contributes to project realisation, networking and knowledge transfer.
Chair of Business Administration in the Food Economy and Agribusiness
The Chair of Business Administration in the Food Economy and Agribusiness at JLU conducts research on issues related to a sustainable agricultural and food economy from an inter- and transdisciplinary perspective. One focus of the research and development work is the transformative organisation and management of value chains and production networks to support ecologically and sustainably produced food. Clients include the EU, the BLE, the HMWK, the BMBF and various foundations. The working group has extensive knowledge in the development and testing of instruments for the sustainable transformation and organisation of value chains.
Professorship for Communication and Extension in Agricultural, Nutritional and Environmental Sciences
The Chair of Communication and Engagement in Agricultural, Nutritional and Environmental Sciences at JLU addresses social science issues in the transformation of food systems. The working group studies issues at the interface between science and society with the aim of promoting resonance-generating communication practices and processes at the individual, organisational and societal level. Clients include, for example, the BMEL and the HMLU.
Centre for Organic Farming
The Centre for Organic Farming and Sustainable Regional Development (Zentrum für Ökologische Landwirtschaft und Nachhaltige Regionalentwicklung e. V., ZÖL) is an association based at the Frankenhausen teaching and experimental farm, which is part of the University of Kassel. The purpose of the association is to promote the teaching, research and transfer centre for organic farming and sustainable regional development at the Frankenhausen teaching and experimental farm. The focus is on promoting application-oriented teaching and research and providing scientific advice in the fields of organic farming and sustainable regional development. The projects supported and/or implemented by the association are also intended to support the ecological, social and/or cultural development of the region. In the North Hesse Organic Model Region (2015-2025) project, the ZÖL is working together with the agricultural offices in the districts of Kassel and Werra-Meißner, the city of Kassel, the district farmers' associations and the regional development associations.
Ludwigsburg district – agriculture department
As the lower agricultural authority, the agriculture department has a number of advisors who have long-standing and good contacts in agriculture and horticulture in the Ludwigsburg district. They have a broad knowledge of the structures in the agricultural landscape, both in the conventional and organic sectors, as a result of their advisory work and responsibility for agricultural funding applications. As part of local self-government, the agriculture department produces brochures for consumers on direct marketing, among other things, and participates in the Spätlingsmarkt, a week-long autumn market at the Ludwigsburg District Office. Both the Organic Model Region Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart and the Middle Neckar Nutrition Centre are based at the agriculture department.
