International, multidisciplinary and long-term study on the interrelationships between physical, socio-cultural and economic environment, farm household behaviour, spatial development and policy implementation and impact. Development of a consistent data base on farm household resources and farm household adjustment in different types of rural areas at the European level. Assessment of both the implications of farm household changes for patterns of macro-structural adjustment in different contexts, and the reasons for these changes; in particular: the function of pluriactivity and the role of agricultural structural policy.
