Public Ecosystem Goods and Services from Agriculture and Forestry: Unlocking the Synergies – PEGASUS

PEGASUS (Public Ecosystem Goods And Services from agriculture and forestry: Unlocking the Synergies)  is a new EU-funded research project whose aim is to transform approaches to rural land management through unlocking the synergies between the economic and environmental benefits provided by agriculture and forestry for society.

Using the concepts of public goods and ecosystem services PEGASUS will investigate new ways of thinking about the way farmland and forests are managed to stimulate long-lasting improvements in the delivery of social, economic and environmental benefits from EU agricultural and forest land in policy and in practice. Around thirty case studies are planned across the EU to consider the issues and find solutions that work in a range of farming systems as well as along the supply chain.

PEGASUS brings together a multidisciplinary team of 14 partners from 10 EU countries, including universities, policy institutes and NGOs. Throughout the project, there will be active engagement with a wide range of land managers, rural stakeholders and policy makers at local, regional, national and EU level.
