Merit Based Income from Sustainable Land Management in Mountain Farming – MERIT

The project "Merit based income from sustainable land management in mountain farming" (MERIT) is implemented by partners from France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. In farms of five pilot regions of the Alps feasibility and efficiency of result-orientated nature protection will be analysed. Alternative systems of income from ecosystems services and land management (e.g. cooperation with supermarket chains) and governmental systems and tools which are necessary for implementation of such systems will be elaborated. Through user forums representatives from policy and administration as well as further stakeholders are informed about project results and are invited for discussion. Project results are available for future development of new agri-environmental schemes.
