The main aim of this study was to provide scientific backstopping for the discussion of the pros and cons of the 1992 reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) with respect to the potential implications of the reform for agriculture and rural areas in Hesse. The study included a comparative analysis of the different reform proposals, model calculations for the major farm and region types in Hesse using the PC-based MSBB system (Modelle standort- und betriebstypischer Bodennutzung) and an analysis of differential regional level impacts.
