Environmental impact of agricultural structure policy in the EC – a comparative study of policy development, implementation and impact in different EC member states

Co-ordination: Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) London. Structural changes in agriculture have a significant environmental impact. The abandonment of many cultural landscapes and a deterioration in water quality in many regions are examples. The study aimed at a review of the impact of some of the most important structural measures. On the basis of this review, an attempt was made to sketch out a land use policy that allows positive environmental management and helps to provide agriculture with a broader, more stable social and environmental role in a changing economic climate.
