Ad-hoc study to the funding of the processing and marketing of regional quality products in Rhineland-Palatinate

In Rhineland-Palatinate, investments in the processing and marketing of regional products have been supported since 2015. The measure is specifically intended for companies that process and market certified organic products and / or products with regional labels. As part of the ongoing evaluation of the Rhineland-Palatinate “Development Programme for Environmental Measures, Rural Development, Agriculture and Food" (EULLE), the ministry responsible commissioned IfLS to conduct an in-depth study. The study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the low take-up of this specific support by potential beneficiaries.

At the end of 2018, the IfLS interviewed representatives of trade guilds, producer associations, processing and marketing companies and public institutions about possible reasons for why the funding was not used. In addition, the IfLS compares the design and implementation of similar support measures in other federal states. The results will be presented and discussed in a round-table discussion with experts in early summer 2019. Finally, recommendations for action will be formulated and all results will be submitted to the ministry (MWVLW).
