With creativity and expertise to a framework concept for the biosphere region Berchtesgadener Land

The development of the framework concept for the biosphere region Berchtesgadener Land is in its final stages. Therefore, a half-day online workshop with regional experts took place on July 5th 2022 to review, discuss and supplement the objectives, measures and projects developed so far. This was preceded by a regional participation workshop at the end of March 2022.

The creation and implementation of a framework concept is an important participatory process and an integral part of every biosphere region. It is therefore of great importance to closely coordinate the framework concept with regional actors. The framework concept of the biosphere region should serve as a guide for the next steps towards sustainable development in the Berchtesgadener Land.

In addition to the implementation of various expert discussions, the evaluation of existing regional concepts and the inclusion of the results of the evaluation report (2020-2022), further steps were taken to involve central regional actors in the development. Thus, in a regional participation workshop on March 30th 2022, both the strengths of the Berchtesgadener Land and the upcoming challenges were highlighted and discussed from the perspective of a model region for sustainable development. Possible current and future activities of all actors who can contribute to the future viability of the region were also collected. In addition, goals and measures in the three future fields of action of the biosphere region 1) nature and landscape, 2) sustainable life and economy and 3) awareness raising were discussed and key projects were collected and reviewed in a half-day workshop with regional stakeholders on July 5th 2022.

The IfLS supports the administrative office of the biosphere region Berchtesgadener Land together with the marketing office Spreadwings in the preparation of the framework concept and the moderation of the participation formats carried out.
