On 18 October 2021, the REGIONAL FORUM of the Limes Region took place in the multi-purpose hall in Zweiflingen with the participation of regional key persons and interested citizens as a prelude to the LEADER strategy process. The reason for the hybrid event is the preparation of a regional development concept, which the 13 participating towns and municipalities are working on in close cooperation with the Institute for Rural Structural Research.
Around 25 people from politics, civil society and administration as well as other regional stakeholders took part in the hybrid event. First, Dr. Gehrlein and Mr. Müller (IfLS) gave an introductory keynote speech on the modes of action and potentials of LEADER in regional development. Afterwards, three small groups worked on the strengths, weaknesses, challenges and potentials of the Limes region within the framework of action field-related World Cafés on the topics "Joie de vivre and enjoyment", "Between tradition and modernity" and "Sustainable and crisis-proof".
The ideas collected will be incorporated into the development concept. Participation in the development of the concept can take place on an ongoing basis through the establishment of a participation platform: On the platform, it is possible to describe needs, wishes and project ideas on an interactive map, to comment on the contributions of others and to exchange ideas on an ongoing basis. In addition, the Instagram account of the @limesregion provides information about all steps in the participation process.
