Model municipalities for a sustainable Rhineland-Palatinate

Currently, eight model municipalities are developing sustainability strategies in order to develop exemplary solutions for the implementation of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On April 15, 2021, more than 50 people exchanged views on ways of sustainable development in the eight model municipalities and in Rhineland-Palatinate. A representative of the Ministry for the Environment, Energy, Food and Forestry presented the state of Rhineland-Palatinate's "Aktion Grün" (Green Action), which is intended to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. Secondly, a representative of the District Association Palatinate presented the Climate Protection Master Plan Biosphere Reserve Palatinate Forest.

Afterwards, the participants deepened the discussion in three working groups, in which experts on the topics of sustainable tourism, public transport and mobility, community development, climate change impact adaptation, "edible village" and sustainable viticulture gave inspiring and supportive answers to the representatives from the eight model communities.

The IfLS, together with the Kobra Advisory Center, accompanied the eight model municipalities in the development of their municipal sustainability strategies on behalf of the Pfälzerwald-Nordvogesen Biosphere Reserve and moderated the event.
