Kellerwald-Edersee nature park planning starts expert discussions

The nature park planning for the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park is entering the next round. In "focus groups", strategic goals and associated sub-goals are discussed in the individual fields of action of the nature park and ideas for lead projects are collected.

The first focus group adressing "nature conservation and cultural landscape" took place on 20.09.2022 at the National Park Authority in Bad Wildungen. 15 experts from the fields of nature conservation, agriculture and forestry discussed how nature conservation and sustainable use of the valuable cultural landscapes in the region can be combined, what goals the nature park should set in these areas and how cooperation with other relevant actors could be organised. In another focus group meeting on 11.10.2022, experts from the field of environmental education and education for sustainable development (ESD) got together to discuss goals and project ideas in this field of action. In addition to a possible certification as an education provider for sustainable development, ideas for individual educational offers and the strategic expansion of digital offers and methods were discussed.

The focus groups adressing the other fields of action of the nature park will take place on October 18th (recreation and sustainable tourism), October 19th (sustainable fisheries management of Lake Edersee) and November 1st (sustainable regional development). The results of the focus groups are incorporated into the development strategy of the nature park plan, which is to form the working basis of the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park for the next 10 years.  The IfLS has been supporting the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park in its nature park planning since spring 2022.
