Ideas on the strategy of the nature park plan for the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park

The development of the nature park plan for the UNESCO Geo-Nature Park Bergstraße-Odenwald went into the next round on Monday, September 09, 2019. More than 50 actors from the entire region met at an ideas workshop in Bensheim-Auerbach, including representatives of the executive board, member municipalities and rural districts as well as partner associations and tourism organisations. They discussed and evaluated the strategy, the objectives and various project ideas in ten different fields of action.

The many fields of action reflect the broad orientation of the Geo-Nature Park, which deals with topics such as nature conservation and environmental protection, culture and geology, but also sustainable regional development, tourism and local recreation, or the provision of information and education for sustainable development (ESD).

The results of the three-hour workshop will be incorporated into the further elaboration of the Geo-Naturpark Management Plan.

The IfLS has been commissioned to prepare the Geo-Nature Park Plan in the form of a management plan. This plan should meet both the requirements of the Association of German Nature Parks (VDN) for a nature park plan and the UNESCO requirements for a management plan of a Global Geopark.
