High demand for innovation funding in Rhineland-Palatinate

On October 2, 2020, the evaluation committee of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate met in Mainz to select the applications submitted in the third call for EIP-Agri proposals. A total of 17 potential Operational Groups (OG) had applied for funding for their innovation project. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate provides 5 mio € in funding. In response to the high demand, Minister Wissing had already decided to increase the funding by 2 million euros in June.

The submitted action plans cover a wide range of topics in Rhineland-Palatinate's agriculture - from the use of artificial intelligence in viticulture, insect proteins in animal feeding, to approaches in conservation agriculture. For three consecutive days, the applicants had the opportunity to present their projects to the evaluation committee. The procedure proved to be extremely productive, as final open questions could be addressed and critically discussed on the home stretch. Finally, the evaluation committee had the task of evaluating and selecting the projects based on the selection criteria of EPLR EULLE. The Ministry of Economy, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture (MWVLW) will announce the selected projects shortly.
