Further training in the LEADER region "EMBRACE Tsalka" met with great interest

For the newly elected Board of Directors of the Local Action Group (LAG) of the Georgian Leader Region "EMBRACE Tsalka", the IfLS together with CENN (Caucasus Environmental NGO Network) and the Georgian Farmers Association GFA conducted a capacity building training on September 25 and 26, 2019.

To start off the LAG board work, the principles and working methods of the LEADER approach were conveyed to the first-time elected board members. The focus was on the special features and framework conditions in Georgia in order to ensure a situation-adapted approach in the region. The central topics of the training were roles, responsibilities and procedures in the LAGs as well as the procedure for drawing up the local development strategy.

From today's point of view, the central themes for future LEADER work are primarily agricultural development (arable farming, dairy farming and small dairies), the establishment of civil society structures, the promotion of women in rural areas, support for young entrepreneurs* and start-ups, and the development of nature tourism offers.

Tsalka is one of four new LEADER regions in Georgia financed by the ENPARD programme. The IfLS is active in the region together with the partner organisations CENN and the Georgian farmers' association GFA Partner.
