Experiencing, discovering and experiencing in education - BNE concept for the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald

With the now finalised „Strategisch-didaktischen Bildungskonzept BNE“ , the Geo-Nature Park describes how it would like to realise the goals in the field of BNE together with its many partners and other regional actors.
For years, environmental education, geo-education and, in part, education for sustainable development have been important core topics in the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald. Already in the management plan published in 2020, which was prepared with the support of the IfLS, the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald defined the development of a concept for education for sustainable development (in short: BNE concept) as one of the central and promptly to be implemented lead projects. Above all, BNE is becoming increasingly important as a driver for the 2030 Agenda with its 17 global sustainability goals.

With its BNE concept, the Geo-Nature Park pursues the premise of using existing offers, developing them further in the sense of ESD and opening up new thematic areas - taking into account all 3 pillars of sustainability and the 17 SDGs. In this way, the Geo-Nature Park wants to give all people - regardless of age, origin and previous education - the opportunity to experience and understand our world in all its facets.

A central project for the future is the so-called BNE Academy. Initially in the form of a virtual BNE platform, the established connections in the region (and beyond) are to be brought together even more firmly. In a first step, an interactive map will be created, which will make the BNE offers of different providers visible with their topics and target groups. In the long term, the aim is to develop the BNE platform initially into a virtual BNE academy, but ultimately also into an BNE academy that is spatially located. The overarching task of the BNE academy is to make the offers of the BNE actors in the area of the Geo-Nature Park accessible to a broad user group and the public, to promote their exchange and networking with each other, and to jointly offer regular further training in the field of BNE.

The final BNE concept, which was prepared with the support of the IfLS on the basis of three highly committed workshops, can be requested from the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald.
