European exchange on urban agriculture: "CityZen" project meeting in Frankfurt/Main

From May 17 to 19, IfLS hostet together with Regionalpark RheinMain a meeting of the "CityZen" project: about 35 participants from Bulgaria, Greece, Portugal, Spain and Germany exchanged ideas on action concepts with integrated action plans for agriculture. The aim was to discuss innovative ideas and implementation strategies, bringing them to the different regions.

In the practical part of the meeting, the participants visited regional good practices such as the Main Äppel Haus on the Lorberg, the Stadtgarten project in Eschborn, the old airfield in Bonames-Kalbach and Regionalpark farm stations. A bicycle tour along the Regionalpark circular route led to further exemplary farms and the agricultural-cultural axis.

The INTEREG EUROPE project CityZen, which has been running since 2019, aims to highlight the economic and social potential of urban agriculture to political decision-makers and citizens. The action plans of the partner regions presented at the meeting address, among other things, green innovations and resource efficiency. The action plan for the Rhine-Main region, developed by IfLS and Regional Park, aims to provide impulses for a better perception of the environmental and social benefits of urban agriculture and to encourage innovative approaches.
