EMBRACE Tsalka: Together for a sustainable future

On February 9, the second steering group meeting of the EMBRACE Tsalka project was held, which aims to expand and promote Tsalka's economic activities through agricultural and ecological practices in the region. For this purpose, the LEADER Action Group Tsalka was established a year ago, supported by the Institute for Rural Development Research (IfLS) through training and exchange.

Now the Caucasian Environmental NGO Network (CENN) invited to an online exchange about the activities carried out and planned within the framework of the project, existing challenges as well as perspectives of cooperation. It became clear that there is a willingness to cooperate on all sides in order to work together on a sustainable future for the region. Representatives of the EU ENPARD program, the Georgian Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the City of Tsalka discussed possibilities for supporting the LAG and its projects, and agreed on joint activities.

With 30 municipalities, 43 villages and the town of Tsalka itself, the multi-ethnic and -cultural municipality of Tsalka in the Kvemo Kartli region offers a variety of tourist and economic opportunities that should be made more visible. “EMBRACE Tsalka” is implemented under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) by the EU’s partner organization CENN, in partnership with the Georgian Farmers’ Association (GFA) and German partner organization IfLS.
