Company outing and further education of the IfLS 2018: Versatile impressions of agriculture, the Odenwald and project management

This year's company outing from 17.-18.09. took us to the Odenwald. At the interface between research and consulting, it is important to us to gain insights into practice time and again. Therefore, our excursion began with a visit to the Hofgut Oberfeld on the outskirts of Darmstadt. We got to know the farm, which is managed according to Demeter guidelines, under the keyword "agriculture in citizen hands". The tour of the farm with Thomas Goebel gave us an insight into the organisational form of the civil enterprise as a public limited company, its origins and business economics. The farmer and farm manager also gave us an impressive insight into agricultural aspects, especially animal husbandry.

The following hike in the Geo-Naturpark Odenwald led us over a part of the Nibelungensteig. In wonderful hiking weather we walked on shady and legendary forest paths, of which boards with stories from the Nibelungen narrative testified. The varied tour finally brought us to the Walburgiskapelle, from where we could enjoy the wonderful view over the Odenwald.

For the overnight stay and our advanced training on the second day we had chosen the idyllically situated Odenwald Institute. There we were trained by Markus Luther from the agency Thiel und Partner on improvement possibilities in the field of project management. We were particularly interested in the tools that can be used in various situations and were able to take something with us, especially for multi-project management.
