Survey of LEADER actors in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate successfully carried out

In the context of the state evaluation of the rural development programmes MEPLIII (Rural Development Plan) in Baden-Württemberg and EULLE (Development Programme for Environmental Measures, Rural Development, Agriculture, Nutrition) in Rhineland-Palatinate, the IfLS conducted online surveys of around 1,800 people in the 38 LEADER action groups. This involved all members of the Local Action Groups as well as external regional actors.

The response rates of 35% and 30% respectively reflect the high level of commitment shown by people in the regions. The first evaluations show that, despite the repeatedly criticised high administrative costs caused by the funding programme, the actors involved are highly satisfied with the regional processes. The quality of the regional management's work as a central point of contact for the actors in the regions and the controllers of the implementation processes is proving to be a central success factor. The shift of greater personal responsibility and the individual possibilities of shaping the funding conditions at the regional level are also welcomed despite the increased effort.
