Baden-Württemberg starts preparations for the CAP funding period from 2021 onwards

The state of Baden-Württemberg launched the process for the preparation of the CAP funding period 2021-2027 with a kick-off event on October 29. The IfLS supported the preparation, implementation and follow-up of the event together with the research group Agricultural and Regional Development Triesdorf (ART).

In the morning, Minister Peter Hauk (Ministry for Rural Areas and Consumer Protection) and State Secretary Dr. Andre Baumann (Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Economy) gave their assessments of the European Commission's proposals on the future CAP. Subsequently, a discussion took place with both of them. In the afternoon, more than 100 economic and social partners discussed the need for action in thematic groups at a World Café.

For this purpose, four thematic groups were formed, which emerged from the proposals of the EU Commission:

  • Preparing the agricultural and forestry sector in Baden-Württemberg for current and future economic challenges
  • Environment, Biodiversity and Climate Protection and Climate Adaptation
  • Rural spaces – Habitat, living and working spaces
  • Society's expectations of agriculture

The results of the event are summarised in a conference documentation (in German) and will be incorporated into the further process of designing the funding period 2021 to 2027 at federal and state level.
