A different kind of public participation: the IfLS at the nature park festival of the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park.

The Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park celebrated its 20th (+1) anniversary with a nature park festival. On the 3rd of July 2022, it celebrated its successful work in the last years with numerous visitors at the recreational pond site in Bad Zwesten-Oberurff/Schiffelborn. The IfLS supported the event with a public participation opportunity on the currently ongoing nature park planning and looked at possible work in the future.

The IfLS invited visitors to share their ideas and wishes for the direction of the nature park in the coming years. Adult visitors could leave their suggestions on posters or take a postcard (with QR code) for digital participation. Children could draw their very own nature park and thus communicate in a child-friendly way what they like about the nature park or would like to see in the future.

The nature park management and expert partners will examine and incorporate the ideas (where possible) into the planning. These are to be completed in spring/summer 2023.
