10 countries, 14 networks, 19 partners and a diversity of land use systems

To conclude the project in late February, both the partners and the IfLS reviewed the last pieces of information, incorporated them into project reports and interpreted the results.

The MIXED project, funded by the EU under Horizon 2020, focused on mixed farming and agroforestry systems and their considerable potential for sustainability, resilience and efficiency in agriculture and related sectors.
The IfLS analysed the current conditions of these systems and derived recommendations for policy and decision makers to support the transition to more mixed farming in Europe.

The recommendations address the following topics:
•    Knowledge on public goods,
•    capacities of farmers and intermediary actors,
•    landscape perspectives in strategies,
•    improvements in the legal and administrative framework and
•    promoting the viability and competitiveness of mixed land use systems.

The corresponding report (Deliverable D6.4)  is now available here.

In the context of agricultural policy discourses such as the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of European Agriculture and the EU Vision for Agriculture and Food, the report provides an important contribution to current discussions on the sustainability of European agriculture.
